A Dream Realized

Two years ago, I created a vision board and taped a picture of Costa Rica right in the middle of it.

I had a dream of leading a retreat in Costa Rica. Why this location? I have no idea, it just seemed exotic and beautiful. I wanted to lead a group of yogis on a dream vacation that included yoga, meditation, insight and action but I had no idea how to do it.

Well, now it is March of 2014 and the day before I get on a jet bound to a retreat with 20 yogis from all over the country. I can't even begin to tell you how amazing this makes me feel.

See, I truly believe that if you really want something, you can make it happen.  Just putting it on my vision board planted a seed that started to SLOWLY blossom. I started teaching more yoga and meditation. I started traveling a lot more. I started taking more retreats to learn what makes a retreat awesome and what makes a retreat terrible (market research makes for a TOUGH LIFE!) Last fall I went to the home of my guru, Swami Kripalu, and met a woman there who looked at me and said "you need to do a retreat. Here's a number to call. This place is amazing." So, trusting the universe and this complete stranger, I booked the rooms. I put a $2000 deposit on my credit card and took a deep breath.

This was going to happen.

My worst fear was that no one would come.  But within weeks, we had sold the retreat out.  My partner in crime, and co-teacher, Sean Ward, kept me calm and at peace during the entire planning of the retreat.  Every time we would get together we would sit down to plan the logistics, but end up talking about life, love, meditation, yoga, philosophy, and ultimately making sense of the amazing world we live in.  I didn't even understand how creative and opening the PROCESS of planning the retreat would be.

Ultimately, we came up with a program that ended up being a dream retreat.  A good mix of yoga practice, workshop discussion, meditation, relaxation, nap time,  and thought provoking, challenging and soul opening activities that would bring each participant closer to who they really are.

Now, as I finish packing my bags, I am completely surrendering.  I know there may be things that don't go according to plan. But I also know that I am offering this up from the deepest place in my heart, and when you do that, you just have to let go.  Let it be something bigger than you can ever dream....

From the deepest places of gratitude, I'm heading to Costa Rica...
